Second Nature AI Review: Strengths, Limits and Who It Fits
On this page
TL;DR
- Second Nature AI is AI role play and coaching software for sales, support and other customer-facing teams. Its strongest public case is avatar-led practice, structured courses and certification at enterprise scale.
- Strengths on its own pages: video and moving avatars, scenarios built from a text description or uploaded content, courses that mix videos, decks and quizzes with practice, LMS delivery through SCORM or LTI, and stated SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification.
- Open questions to settle in a demo: no public pricing, a default score weighting of 70% knowledge and 30% style, language counts that differ between pages (25+ and 30+), and how Deal Coach works on live deals.
- It fits best for onboarding and certification programs, global rollouts and teams that want visual avatars. Teams that mostly prepare for specific upcoming deals should test a tool built around that job too.
- Test it with your own scenario, your own scoring rubric and your target language before you buy.

How we reviewed Second Nature
This review uses Second Nature's public pages: the homepage, product page, enterprise page, sales use-case page, FAQ page, demo page, two-week onboarding page and its Zoom certification resource. We read them on October 25 and 26, 2026. We did not use a paid Second Nature workspace, so treat every capability below as the vendor's own statement and check it in a demo.
Quotain publishes this review and competes with Second Nature. We have tried to give its strengths their full weight. If you want a ranked list of other tools, read our Second Nature alternatives guide. This page answers a narrower question: is Second Nature a good fit for your team, and what should you test?
What Second Nature AI does
Second Nature calls itself a "virtual pitch partner": an AI persona holds a conversation with the rep, scores it and gives feedback. Its FAQ lists four kinds of practice:
- Live interactive conversations with an AI persona.
- Webcam-based pitch recordings that the AI scores.
- Slide-based presentations with AI-generated questions and feedback.
- Product demos with screen sharing.
The homepage adds avatar formats: a video avatar discovery call, moving avatar discovery calls, objection handling and cold calls, and multi-persona avatar meetings for B2B and B2C. The product page says the AI personas act like real buyers across 1:1, group and chat scenarios.
Around the practice sits a training layer. The product page describes courses that combine videos, decks and quizzes with AI practice, manager dashboards that track progress, scores, trends and knowledge gaps, and admin controls for roles, permissions, usage and sub-accounts.
Second Nature strengths
Format range, including avatars
Second Nature puts visual buyers near the center of practice. It lists video and moving avatars on its homepage, plus multi-persona meetings. If your reps present on camera, sell in person, or need to practice reading a room, a visual buyer can be part of the training goal. The webcam pitch recording and slide presentation formats also suit product launch and messaging certification, where the skill is delivery as much as dialogue.
Fast scenario authoring
The product page says you can describe a scenario in freeform text or upload any content, and the AI builds a full role play with personas and evaluation topics in minutes. The sales page says call scripts, recordings and sales material can be converted into training. For an enablement team that already has decks and talk tracks, that is a short path from existing material to a first scenario.
Courses, assignments and certification
Second Nature packages practice inside courses, with assignments and manager dashboards. Its Zoom resource features a Zoom sales enablement manager and says Zoom uses Second Nature's AI coaching to scale sales certification. That is the use case where Second Nature's public material is most specific.
Enterprise controls in writing
The enterprise page states SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification, GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA compliance, SSO and SCIM through identity providers such as Okta and Ping Identity, and LMS embedding through SCORM or LTI. It also says Second Nature does not train language models on customer data. The FAQ says data is stored in a Google Cloud data center in the Netherlands. For a security review, that is a lot of published detail to start from.
A defined rollout plan
The two-week onboarding page lays out day one (kickoff, permissions, first role play), week one (training library and an auto-generated plan from uploaded content) and week two (course library, manager dashboards and assignments). The FAQ says the enterprise package includes five training sessions. A buyer knows what the first two weeks should look like before signing.
Limits and open questions
These are gaps in the public material, not findings from a hands-on test. Ask about each one in the demo.
- Pricing is not public. Second Nature has no pricing page in its navigation and covers pricing in a demo. Our Second Nature alternatives guide lists the contract terms to get in writing.
- Default scoring weights style at 30%. The FAQ says scores default to 70% knowledge and 30% style, and that managers can adjust scoring criteria. If your team grades discovery against a framework, ask to see a scorecard built on your criteria and how each point traces back to the transcript.
- Language counts differ by page. The homepage and product page say 30+ languages; the enterprise page and FAQ say more than 25. Test your target language with a native speaker.
- Device statements differ. The product page says Second Nature runs in a mobile browser on phone, tablet or desktop. The FAQ lists desktops, laptops and tablets, and the free role play pop-up asks for a desktop. Test the devices your reps will use.
- Deal Coach is described briefly. The homepage says Second Nature Deal Coach gives reps AI coaching on live deals. We did not find a product page with more detail. Ask what data it needs (CRM, call recordings) and whether it is priced separately.
- Real-call grading is not described. The product and enterprise pages focus on practice. If you also want customer calls graded against the same scorecard, ask whether and how Second Nature does that.
Who Second Nature fits
Second Nature is a strong candidate when the training program, more than any single deal, is what you are buying.
- New-hire onboarding and certification. Courses, assignments, dashboards and a scale story around certification.
- Global or multi-team rollouts. Published language support, sub-accounts and admin controls.
- Avatar-led practice. Reps practice with a visual buyer, or record a pitch on camera.
- LMS-first organizations. SCORM or LTI delivery keeps practice inside the learning system reps already use.
- Strict security reviews. Stated SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO certifications, SSO and SCIM.
It is a weaker match, or at least one to test closely, when reps mostly need to rehearse a named upcoming call with a buyer built from that account and the last conversation, or when managers want practice and real calls graded on one scorecard. What to test in a Second Nature trial or pilot
Use your own material, not the vendor's sample. Score each test 0 (fails), 1 (works with vendor help) or 2 (works on your own).
Test | What to do | Score 2 when |
|---|---|---|
Scenario from your content | Upload one real deck or talk track and generate a role play | The persona and evaluation topics match your product without rewrites |
Avatar value | Run the same scenario as voice only and as an avatar | Managers can name a behavior the avatar version trained that voice did not |
Scoring fit | Replace the default 70/30 weighting with your rubric | Two managers agree with the score on three sessions |
Evidence | Open a low score | Each criterion points to a moment in the transcript |
Certification path | Build a two-task course with a pass rule | A rep who fails knows what to fix and can retry |
LMS handoff | Push one course through SCORM or LTI | Completion and scores show in your LMS |
Language | Have a native speaker run the scenario in your target language | The buyer sounds natural and the feedback is accurate |
Devices | Run sessions on the laptops, tablets or phones your reps use | No session fails to load or record |
Total the scores and compare them with at least one other vendor on the same scenario. If the scenario only works after the vendor rewrites it, count that as ongoing work.
Where Second Nature fits better than Quotain
We publish Quotain, so here is where we think Second Nature is the better pick:
- You need video or moving avatars. Quotain practice uses still buyer portraits, not video avatars.
- You need SOC 2 or SSO today. Second Nature states SOC 2 Type 2 certification and SSO with SCIM. Quotain does not have SOC 2 certification yet, and its Trust Center says it is preparing for a SOC 2 Type II audit. Quotain does not offer SSO yet.
- You want practice delivered inside your LMS through SCORM or LTI.
- You want course content (videos, decks, quizzes) and practice in one tool.
Quotain fits better when reps prepare for specific calls. It builds the AI buyer from your playbook, accounts and recent calls, lets the rep run the full call or drill one moment, and ties each score to the line in the conversation. Teams can also grade recorded customer calls against the same scorecard and continue a call from any transcript line. Certificates in Quotain are issued automatically when a rep passes every task on a path. See the full side-by-side in Quotain vs Second Nature.
Frequently asked questions

Its enterprise page states SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification. As with any vendor, ask for the audit reports and customer references that apply to your use case.
What is Second Nature AI used for?
Second Nature AI is used for sales training through AI role play: reps practice discovery calls, cold calls, objection handling, pitches and presentations with an AI persona that scores the session and gives feedback. Its site also lists customer support, call center, HR and learning and development use cases, and courses that combine training content with practice.
Does Second Nature AI use avatars for role play?
