Quotain vs Gong

Gong now sells AI roleplay on its full enablement plan: AI Trainer builds practice scenarios from recorded Gong calls, and Dry Run lets a rep rehearse an upcoming meeting. Quotain is a focused practice product that builds buyers from your playbook, calls, and deal context, and it can read calls from Gong or other recorders.

Every call scored. Every score explained. Each judgment links to the line that earned it.

A recorded Gong call in Quotain scores 6.3 with a critical miss: the requirement “Secure a specific next step” is not met, and its evidence link points to the rep's line at 29:48, “I can send over a few resources after the call.”

Practice without changing your call recorder

Quotain reads calls from Gong, Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, Grain, Granola, and other recorders, or from a direct upload. A team can add roleplay without first standardizing on one conversation-intelligence vendor.

Teams already on Gong can connect it, and Quotain's assistant can use the last Gong call alongside the playbook and knowledge library when it drafts a buyer.

Committee calls, screen share, and four difficulty levels

Quotain's Team plan includes buyers in 32 languages at four difficulty levels, and buying-committee calls with several buyers are available on request. Reps can share their screen to walk a buyer through a demo.

Grade a real call, then continue it

Quotain grades recorded calls against the scorecard for each call stage and marks each requirement Met, Not met, or N/A, with the transcript moments behind it. A manager can correct a grade with a reason, and a rep can pick a transcript line and continue the call from there with an AI buyer grounded in the recording. On Team plans, grading of recorded calls is available on request.

Where Gong fits better. From Gong’s public product information, reviewed October 25, 2026.

Roleplay built from calls Gong already recorded

AI Trainer generates a customer persona from scenario details and, optionally, Gong calls and snippets you link. Sessions are graded by Gong's AI Call Reviewer with the same scorecards applied to live calls, and reps can repeat a session as often as they like before submitting.

After each session, an AI coach gives private feedback and answers follow-up questions. Admins build trainings from lesson and practice modules, embed Gong calls, and assign them to teams with due dates.

Gong AI Trainer help article

Dry Run for the next meeting

Gong's enablement page describes Dry Run as live AI roleplay for an upcoming customer meeting, with the real customer persona and account context copied in automatically. For a team already recording calls in Gong, that removes most scenario setup.

Gong enablement product page

One system for calls, coaching, and practice

Gong records and transcribes sales calls, meetings, and email, analyzes topics, objections, competitor mentions, and buying signals, and scores calls automatically. A coaching inbox keeps manager feedback and tasks in one place.

Gong's revenue enablement page cites 300+ integrations in the Gong Collective, and its security page lists SOC 2 Type 2 and several ISO certifications, including ISO 42001 for AI management.

Gong conversation intelligence

Match the product to the buying job. The signals that point one way or the other.

Choose Quotain when

  • Simulation quality and realistic buyer behavior lead the decision.
  • Scenarios and scorecards must closely match your sales motion.
  • The team wants to launch without adopting a broad enablement suite.
  • The team wants to compare rollout time and complete cost in a matched pilot.

Choose Gong when

  • The team already records its calls in Gong and wants practice in the same system.
  • Reps should rehearse upcoming meetings with no scenario setup.
  • Managers want practice and live calls graded by one scorecard in Gong.
  • SOC 2 or ISO certification is a requirement today.

Run a fair pilot. One live deal, both vendors.

A feature list cannot prove simulation quality or adoption. Use the same live opportunity and score the work around the session, not only the polish of a sample bot.

  1. Step 1

Choose one current opportunity and one difficult buyer.

  2. Step 2

Give both vendors the same account notes, prior-call context, product facts, objections, and scorecard.

  3. Step 3

Time the work from source handoff to an approved simulation.

  4. Step 4

Have the same reps complete both simulations in randomized order.

  5. Step 5

Blind-review buyer realism, context retention, pressure, and score evidence.

  6. Step 6

Ask each rep to retry one weak moment and compare the manager workflow.

  7. Step 7

Compare complete first-year and renewal costs under the same assumptions.

Security and procurement. Treat requirements as requirements.

  • Gong's pricing page, checked October 25, 2026, lists no prices. It says licenses are priced per user, adds a platform fee based on the number of users supported, and says existing tools can be integrated for free. Gong's enablement page says Gong Enable does not offer a free trial.

  • Gong's AI Trainer help article lists it as available on the Enable plan, and Gong's plans article describes applications added to a Gong Foundation core license. If you do not use Gong today, ask for the full cost of the core license plus the enablement plan. If you do, compare the incremental cost of Enable with a Quotain Team quote.

  • Gong's security page lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 42001, and other certifications, and says customer data is never used to train generative AI models. Quotain shows its SOC 2 Type II audit as in progress and does not currently offer SSO, so Gong has the stronger public position if certification is a hard requirement today.

  • The Gong pages we reviewed do not describe several AI buyers in one session or screen-share practice. Ask Gong directly if committee or demo practice matters.

  • Review Quotain’s current controls in the Trust Center.

Our recommendation. Decide on the workflow, then the vendor.

Choose Quotain when you want focused AI roleplay without adding a Gong enablement plan, need buying-committee or screen-share practice, or record calls in tools other than Gong.

Choose Gong when the team already runs on Gong and wants roleplay, call scoring, and coaching inside the same system that records its calls.

If both cases matter, run the same real opportunity through each product and let the evidence decide.

Built with the teams putting strategy into practice

Common buying questions. About Quotain and Gong.

Does Gong have AI roleplay?

Yes. Gong's AI Trainer builds voice practice scenarios, optionally from linked Gong calls and snippets, and grades them with AI Call Reviewer using the same scorecards as live calls. Dry Run lets a rep practice an upcoming meeting with the customer persona and account context copied in. Gong's help center lists AI Trainer on its Enable plan.

Is Quotain a Gong alternative?

Yes for AI sales roleplay and real-call grading. Quotain does not replace Gong's conversation intelligence, forecasting, or outreach products, and many teams can use both: Quotain reads calls from Gong as well as from other recorders.

Can Quotain use our Gong calls?

Yes. Quotain can connect to Gong, use Gong conversations when drafting a buyer, and import Gong calls for grading against your scorecard. It also reads calls from Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, Grain, Granola, and others.

Which is better for practicing an upcoming meeting?

Both support it. Gong's Dry Run copies the persona and account context from Gong. Quotain reads the account and the last call, then lets the rep run the full call or drill one moment and retry it. Test both with the same real meeting and blind-review buyer realism and score evidence.

Which is better for enterprise security requirements?

Gong publishes the stronger certification list, including SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001. Quotain's SOC 2 Type II audit is in progress and SSO is not currently offered. Match each claim to your procurement checklist and request supporting documents.
