Second Nature vs Mindtickle: Avatar Roleplay Specialist or Enablement Suite
On this page
TL;DR
- Second Nature is a roleplay specialist built around AI avatars: its homepage lists moving-avatar and video-avatar calls and multi-persona avatar meetings, and its product page pairs practice with courses. Mindtickle is a broad sales enablement suite in which AI role play is one product beside training, content, coaching, conversation intelligence and readiness reporting.
- Choose Second Nature if practice is the main job and you want avatars, group scenarios, webcam pitch practice and LMS delivery through SCORM or LTI without buying a suite.
- Choose Mindtickle if role play has to live in the same system as training, content and certification, and leaders want skill data next to CRM outcomes through its Readiness Index.
- Neither publishes prices. Second Nature routes pricing to a demo form; Mindtickle says price depends on company size and team structure, and its packages include only one-way role plays, with two-way AI Role Play added on the order.
- Both publish SOC 2 and SSO support. If you need neither avatars nor a suite, a voice practice tool such as Quotain may be a third option.

How we compared
We read each vendor's own pages on October 26, 2026. For Second Nature: the homepage, the product page, the enterprise page and the FAQ page. For Mindtickle: the AI Sales Role Play product page, the AI Role Play Simulator page, the Description of Subscription Services and the Trust Center. Second Nature's pages state different language counts, so we attribute each number to the page that states it.
Quotain publishes this comparison and sells AI sales roleplay software that competes with both vendors on practice. We name where each vendor fits better than Quotain. Confirm features and terms in a pilot, since vendor pages change.
The core difference: specialist or suite
Second Nature sells practice. Its product page describes building a full roleplay from a freeform description or uploaded content, combining videos, decks and quizzes with AI practice in courses, and assigning sessions to teams. The purchase is a roleplay and training product.
Mindtickle sells a suite. Its subscription description lists four packages built from courses, certifications, reinforcement, Coaching Rooms, content management, Digital Sales Rooms and Call AI, with AI Copilot and the Readiness Index in every package. AI role play is one product inside that. If your company already runs on Mindtickle, its role play keeps practice in the same place as training. If it does not, buying Mindtickle for role play means buying a package as well.
Practice format and avatars
Second Nature: best for avatar-led practice. Second Nature's homepage lists moving-avatar discovery, objection handling and cold calls, a video-avatar discovery call, and multi-persona avatar meetings for B2B and B2C. Its product page says AI personas act like real buyers across 1:1, group and chat scenarios. The FAQ lists live conversations, webcam-based AI-scored pitch recordings, slide presentations and demos with screen share as formats, with the camera optional for some modules.
Mindtickle: best for practice inside a suite. Mindtickle's AI Sales Role Play product page lists dozens of prebuilt buyer personas and voices, custom personas written in plain prompts, uploaded objections (the AI asks a subset in each session), and screen share for demo practice. It says sessions typically run 2 to 4 minutes. The page does not mention avatars, and it describes one AI buyer per session. Mindtickle also sells an AI Role Play Simulator for contact center agents, which pairs conversation practice with practice on replicated software systems.
One packaging point: Mindtickle's base packages include one-way virtual role plays, where a rep records a pitch and AI grades it. Two-way AI Role Play, the live conversation with an AI buyer, is available when specified in an order. Our Mindtickle pricing guide explains the packages.
What to test. If avatars matter to your reps, run the same scenario on Second Nature's avatar format and on Mindtickle's voice format, and ask reps which one they would repeat on a Tuesday afternoon. If buying committees are common in your deals, test Second Nature's multi-persona meetings and ask Mindtickle directly whether it supports several buyers in one call.
Scenario setup and scoring
Second Nature. The FAQ says creators set the scenario, persona background, conversation structure, weighted topics, style parameters and passing criteria, and can build from PDFs, PowerPoint files, Word documents and audio. It offers templates for MEDDPICC, BANT and SPIN. Scoring defaults to 70% knowledge and 30% style, scores arrive in 45 to 90 seconds, managers can adjust criteria or add manual scores, and reps can ask for a score review.
Mindtickle. The role play page says Copilot creates role play scenarios, grades submissions with an initial score and detailed feedback, and supports automated certification based on scores you set. It says AI can review thousands of submissions. Reps see soft-skill metrics such as talk ratio, pace and filler words.
What to test. Write one rubric and load it in both. Have two managers score three sessions by hand, then compare with each tool's score. The tool whose score agrees with your managers, and whose feedback points to the moment that cost the rep, is the one reps will trust. Our sales call scorecard has criteria you can reuse.
Courses, certification and reporting
Second Nature. Courses combine content and AI practice, and trainees are assigned a course by sharing a link. Manager dashboards track progress, scores, performance trends and knowledge gaps. For companies with an existing LMS, Second Nature says it embeds roleplay training into any LMS through SCORM or LTI, and its FAQ names Cornerstone, Docebo, SuccessFactors and Adobe Learning Manager.
Mindtickle. Every Mindtickle package includes courses, assessments and certifications, and the Readiness Index. Mindtickle's role play page says Readiness Index dashboards relate role play performance to quota attainment, deal size and ramp time, and describes a two-way Salesforce integration that pushes skill data back to the CRM.
What the difference means for you. If you keep your LMS and want practice delivered inside it, Second Nature is built for that. If you want one system that holds training, certification and skill reporting tied to CRM numbers, Mindtickle covers more of it. For certification design, see our guide to a sales certification program.
Pricing
Neither vendor publishes prices as of October 26, 2026.
Second Nature lists no prices on its homepage, product, enterprise or FAQ pages. Its demo form asks visitors with questions about pricing and plans to get in touch, and the enterprise page offers pricing options for your use case on a demo. The FAQ says enterprise plans include five training sessions. Free role plays are available from the homepage, on desktop only.
Mindtickle's AI Sales Role Play product page says pricing depends on company size and team structure and that there is no self-serve free version of AI role play, though a free demo exists. Its subscription description says Standard Support and Customer Success Services are included in the subscription fee and that hands-on workshops and customized training cost extra.
What to compare. Ask for quotes with the same users, the same scenarios and the same term. For Mindtickle, confirm two-way AI Role Play is a line on the quote and which package it sits on. For Second Nature, ask what is included at your seat count and whether avatars, multi-persona meetings and LMS integration carry any extra charge.
Security and procurement
Second Nature's enterprise page says it is certified for SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, lists GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA compliance, supports SSO and SCIM with identity providers such as Okta and Ping Identity, and says it does not train large models on customer data. Mindtickle's Trust Center lists SOC 2, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 42001:2023 and HIPAA, says customers can enforce SSO, and says customer data is never used to train AI. Both publish a strong position for a security review; request the current reports.
Which to choose
Second Nature is best for teams whose main purchase is practice, who want avatars and group scenarios, and who plan to deliver practice through an LMS they already run.
Mindtickle is best for companies that want role play in the same suite as training, content and certification, with skill data tied to CRM outcomes, and that will use more than the role play product.
Neither is the obvious buy if your reps need voice practice on their own deals and you do not need avatars or a suite. For more options, see Second Nature alternatives and Mindtickle alternatives.
Where Quotain fits, and where it does not
Quotain is a practice-focused tool. It builds AI buyers from your playbook, past calls and deal context, and reps run live voice calls against them, scored on your own scorecard, with a retry on the weak moment (AI sales simulations). Per quotain.com/pricing, checked October 2026, the free trial includes up to 3 practice calls with no credit card, and Team plans are custom-quoted for seats and scope, with buyers in 32 languages and four difficulty levels. Buying-committee calls and grading of recorded customer calls are listed as available on request.
Second Nature or Mindtickle fits better than Quotain when:
- Avatars are part of the training design. Quotain uses still buyer portraits, not video avatars.
- You need a learning library, courses or content management. Quotain does not offer them.
- Your security team requires SOC 2 or SSO today. Quotain does not have a SOC 2 report or SSO yet.
- You need practice packaged for an LMS through SCORM or LTI, as Second Nature describes.

A two-week pilot scorecard
Give every finalist the same scenario, the same source material, the same rubric and the same five reps. Score each line 0 (fails), 1 (partly) or 2 (passes).
What to test | Pass condition | Evidence owner |
|---|---|---|
Buyer realism | Three reps say the buyer pushed back like a real buyer on your deals | Pilot reps |
Format fit | Reps choose to repeat the format (avatar or voice) without being asked | Sales manager |
Live conversation | The quote covers two-way roleplay as well as any recorded pitches | Enablement lead |
Committee practice | A call with two buyer roles runs as one session, if your deals need it | Enablement lead |
Scoring agreement | Tool score and two managers flag the same gap on three sessions | Sales manager |
Retry | A rep can redo the weak moment the same day and see the score change | Pilot rep |
Delivery | Reps reach practice where they already work (LMS, CRM or browser) | Enablement lead |
Reporting | A manager sees who practiced, scores and gaps without exporting data | Sales manager |
Setup time | One custom scenario goes live within the first week | Enablement lead |
Full cost | Matched quotes for the same users, scenarios and term | Finance or RevOps |
Divide each first-year quote by the reps who practiced at least once a week during the pilot. That figure compares a specialist and a suite more fairly than list price.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Second Nature and Mindtickle?
Second Nature is an AI roleplay product built around avatars, with courses, group scenarios and LMS delivery. Mindtickle is a sales enablement suite in which AI role play sits beside training, content, coaching, conversation intelligence and readiness reporting. Second Nature suits teams buying practice; Mindtickle suits teams that want practice in the same system as the rest of enablement.
Does Mindtickle use avatars for AI role play?
Mindtickle's AI Sales Role Play product page, read October 26, 2026, describes prebuilt and custom buyer personas and voices but does not mention avatars. Second Nature's homepage lists moving-avatar and video-avatar role plays. If visual avatars matter, ask Mindtickle for a demo of its current format.
Is Second Nature cheaper than Mindtickle?
Neither vendor publishes prices, so there is no public answer. Second Nature quotes through a demo. Mindtickle says pricing depends on company size and team structure, and two-way AI Role Play is an order item added to a package. A team that needs only practice may pay less for a specialist, but compare matched quotes for the same users and term.
Which has more languages, Second Nature or Mindtickle?
Second Nature's homepage and product page say 30+ languages, while its FAQ and enterprise page say more than 25. Mindtickle's AI Sales Role Play page says 25+ languages. Test the languages your reps sell in with a local manager, since a supported language does not prove conversation quality.
Can Second Nature or Mindtickle run a buying-committee roleplay?
Second Nature's homepage lists multi-persona avatar meetings for B2B and B2C, and its product page mentions group scenarios. The Mindtickle AI Sales Role Play page we read describes one AI buyer per session. Ask both vendors to run a two-buyer call in the pilot if committees are common in your deals.
Do Second Nature and Mindtickle support SSO?
Yes, according to their own pages. Second Nature's enterprise page lists SSO and SCIM with identity providers such as Okta and Ping Identity, and its FAQ lists SAML SSO. Mindtickle's Trust Center says customers can enforce SSO. Both also list SOC 2.
Is there an alternative if we need neither avatars nor a suite?
Yes. A voice practice tool covers live roleplay without avatars or suite modules. Quotain builds AI buyers from your playbook, calls and deals, offers up to 3 free practice calls with no credit card, and quotes Team plans for seats and scope. It uses still portraits, not video avatars, and does not offer courses or content management.
Decide what you are buying first
If you are buying practice and want avatars, pilot Second Nature. If you are buying an enablement suite and role play is one part, pilot Mindtickle with two-way AI Role Play on the quote. If you want voice practice on your own deals without either, read Quotain vs Second Nature and Quotain vs Mindtickle, see how AI sales simulations work, and book a demo with one live deal. Or hear a buyer first in a free practice call.
